About The Owner
My name is Mayoly De Leon, and I have been dedicated to working with
children and supporting families for over a decade. I earned my Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in 2009, which marked the beginning of my professional journey in early childhood education. Shortly after, I spent three years working in a childcare center, where I gained valuable hands on experience and deepened my understanding of child development.
In 2013, my sister Edna and I took a leap of faith and opened our own
home daycare. With the support of Amy Harfeld, whose daughter Dahlia was in our care, and her kind recommendations to other families, our program began to grow through trust and strong relationships. As our program continued to grow, we expanded in 2020 by opening our center on Georgia Avenue to support the many families who believed in our care and wanted to join our community.
Growing up in a large family with seven sisters and two brothers, I
learned the importance of patience, connection, and caring for others. Those values guide my approach to childcare every day. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and genuinely loved, and I strive to create an environment that feels like a second home for both children and their families.
Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to provide a supportive environment in which children can develop their socio-emotional, physical, cognitive, and linguistic skills in a fun, caring, and positive way. We allow each child to learn at their own pace while encouraging learning through daily play, using the Creative Curriculum as a guide. Peaceful Play Center uses an immersion program to teach Spanish as a second language; therefore, as children go through their daily routines, they naturally acquire the new language and proper grammar. As a center serving children from diverse backgrounds, we promote cultural diversity. We incorporate each child’s nutritional, physical, and developmental needs into the Creative Curriculum and lesson plans so that all children feel included and are active participants in their learning. It is essential to understand children as individuals with unique needs and as members of a community. Our role is to help children discover their learning styles and reach their full potential. At Peaceful Play, we believe that children thrive when families are involved in their educational journey, and we provide many opportunities for families to participate in the center’s daily activities and community.

Curriculum

In Peaceful Play Center, we follow the Creative Curriculum approach. According to Teaching Strategies, the Creative Curriculum is based on five key principles: teacher-child interactions and relationships, social-emotional competence, constructive and purposeful play, interaction with the environment, and partnerships with families.
The Creative Curriculum is an instructional model that focuses on developmentally appropriate practices for infants, toddlers, and preschool children. It is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that emphasizes exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.
The Creative Curriculum uses different formats, including small- and large-group activities, choice time, and daily routines. Teachers select the format that best supports their specific goals. At Peaceful Play Center, we use this curriculum in our daily activities to support infants, toddlers, and preschoolers by providing nurturing, consistent, and loving experiences throughout the day, while also preparing older children for school. We offer individualized, developmentally appropriate activities designed to support each child’s growth based on their skills and unique needs, addressing all areas of development.
Our program incorporates current research and theory from early childhood education into a practical, easy-to-understand approach for working with children and their families. The Creative Curriculum provides a comprehensive framework with a clear organizational structure and a strong focus on interest areas.

Areas of Development We Focus On
Cognitive Development
Fine Motor Development
Gross Motor Development
Social-Emotional Development
Language Development
We support children’s thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity through hands-on exploration and play. Children are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, and discover how the world around them works.
We provide opportunities for children to strengthen small muscle movements through activities like drawing, stacking, grasping, and manipulating objects, helping build coordination and independence.
Through active play, both indoors and outdoors, children develop strength, balance, and coordination. Activities include climbing, running and jumping.
We guide children in building relationships, expressing their feelings, and developing self-regulation. Through daily interactions, children learn empathy, cooperation, and confidence.
We support communication skills by engaging children in conversations, storytelling, songs, and our Spanish immersion program, helping them expand their vocabulary and express themselves effectively.
